The recent delay does mean Frictional has more time to work on it, but in the meantime, you can wishlist the game on Steam and Epic Games Store. At the time, Dark Descent went down as one of the most terrifying horror releases in existence, reinvigorating the genre and inspiring many other titles that came after it.Įven if it doesn’t reinvent the wheel, The Bunker should hopefully sit well with those who love the series. The more hub world approach to this entry should hopefully stretch the play time out a bit more, but we’ll find out when the game comes out on May 16.Īlthough subsequent installments didn’t leave as much of an impact as 2010’s Amnesia: The Dark Descent, they’re still pretty popular among horror fans despite not really pushing the boundaries since the original game. The 4-6 hour length Olsson mentions is obviously just for the main story. However, it is worth remembering that Amnesia: The Bunker will be partly open world, so that’s something to take into consideration. Still, some may feel this is quite short, especially for a studio with a strong franchise and a reputation among the indie horror community. Given that, it looks as though Frictional’s Amnesia: The Bunker is going to fall short of its predecessors.Īccording to a recent interview with Gaming Bolt, the upcoming Amnesia entry will be around 4–6 hours long “on average.” The game’s creative lead Frederik Olsson did say this is just an average and will depend largely on the decisions you make. For many of us, a short burst of terror is much better than something that drags on for hours and hours. Indie horror games are not always the longest in terms of their story.
